An Ordinance to provide for the abolition of court-fee in respect of certain cases
Preamble. Whereas it is expedient to provide for the abolition of court-fee in respect of certain cases.
NOW, THEREFORE, in pursuance of the
Proclamation of fifth day of July, 1977 read with the Laws (Continuance in
Force) Order, 1977 (C. M. L. A. Order No. 1 of 1977) and the Provisional
Constitution Order, 1981 (C. M. L. A. Order No. 1 of 1981), the Governor of the
1. Short title and commencement. (1) This Ordinance may be called the Punjab Court Fees (Abolition) Ordinance, 1983.
(2) It shall come into force at once and shall be
deemed to have taken effect on and from
2. Abolition of Court Fee in certain cases. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary contained in the Court Fees Act, 1870 (VII of 1870) or any other law for the time being in force or in any Rule, Notification or Order, no court-fee shall be chargeable by any Court or payable in respect of
(a) any criminal case; and
(b) any case of civil nature the value of the subject-matter whereof or the relief claimed wherein does not exceed twenty-five thousand rupees.
Explanation. The aforesaid abolition of court-fee shall be applicable at all stages of the case and in respect of all Courts including revenue Courts.
