An Act further to amend the Co-operative Societies (Reforms) Order, 1972 (P.O. No.9 of 1972), in its application to the Province of the Punjab

Preamble.— WHEREAS it is expedient further to amend the Co-operative Societies (Reforms) Order, 1972 (P.O. No.9 of 1972), in its application to the Province of the Punjab, in the manner hereinafter appearing;

      It is hereby enacted as follows:-

1.   Short title, extent and commencement.— (1) This Act may be called the Co-operative Societies (Reforms) Order (Punjab Amendment) Act, 1974.

      (2)  It extends to the whole of the Province of the Punjab.

      (3)  It shall come into force at once.

2.   Amendment of Article 5 of P.O. No. 9 of 1972.— In the Co-operative Societies (Reforms) Order, 1972 (P.O. No. 9 of 1972), in its application to the Province of the Punjab, in Article 5, in clause (3), for the figures “24”, the figures “36” shall be substituted.

3.   Proceedings already taken and rights accrued to be ineffective.— Notwithstanding anything to the contrary contained in the Co-operative Societies (Reforms) Order, 1972 (P.O. No. 9 of 1972), no right shall be deemed to have accrued to any person by virtue of any election proceedings taken under the said Order, before the coming into force of this Act.

4.   Repeal of Punjab Ordinance No. VIII of 1974.— The Co-operative Societies (Reforms), Order (Punjab Amendment) Ordinance, 1974 (Punjab Ordinance No. VIII of 1974), is hereby repealed.
